After reading The Strange Bird, by Jeff Vandermeer.
Issues/themes worth pondering:
The Strange Bird does not have language but does have thoughts. She doesn't know what she is or how she came to be (existentialism). In this novella the narrator seems to be her. - How much is language manipulating thought process in our own day to day lives
The Strange Bird is taken apart and made to act as something else for the Magician, much as we make nature serve us (wood, oil, elements/metals/minerals, animals, etc.)
The Magician and Wick + Rachel are trying to accomplish the same goal by different means, but when viewed through character perspective combined with being a reader one is painted as good and one evil.
No one is human, but everyone wants to be a "good person"
